Mend Citroen C15 Problem Smell Smoke

How can I trace my Citroen C15 electrical problem?

Got acrid smell and smoke from passenger side air vent. Switched off engine and ignition - smoke continued for 5 minutes then gradually stopped. What could this be, and how can I isolate the dodgy wire(s)?
