Mend DeLonghi DMX40 Microwave Oven Delonghi

I have a DeLonghi DMX40 Microwave oven and it will not start when start?

We move the dial timer to what we want and press start and nothing but timer starts. We were thinking its the way the door is shutting but not really sure. The oven will work on and off but seems to be getting worse.
