BT diverse 6450 cordless answer telephone ?

My answer facility on my BT diverse 6450 is not working properly, It picks up the call if no one is available clicks onto the answer facility but does not records any message that anyone wishes to leave.
Is it possible to repair or would it be cheaper to buy a new telephone
