How can I put my Black & Decker electric screwdriver back together?

I just did exactly the same thing. There are 6 pins which provide the clutch mechanism, but I can't see how I can get them back in there easily.

The exploded diagram is not that useful in terms of knowing how to put it back together.

I have the KC9072.

most electric drill/drivers use a planetary gear system. start with the smaller gears nearest to the chuck 5 I think, then a spacer washer, then three gears and a hub and a ring gear, then three gears and a ring gear. then comes the helical gear of the motor. the transmission screws onto the motor housing using two screws.

Go to www.blackanddecker.co.uk select customer service then select instruction manuals. download your models manual and it should have an exploded view of the screwdriver.
Pity you didn't include the model number in your question I could have checked I'm on b&d's site now switching between this site and b&d's

if it's not on the site a help section comes up for ordering manuals but ask first if it has an exploded view of the tool.
failing that go to a local outlet and look at the screwdrivers in store and select the one that that match yours and check the manual out. everyone does it.
