Mend DeLonghi AC925CHS Model Problem Key

delonghi microwave model no AC925CHS?

i have a delonghi microwave AC925CHS. i have the user manual but i cannot fix my problem. the child safety key is displayed in the top right window and according to manual i simply hold down the "stop/clear" button fir three consecutive seconds to remove the childlock. i have repeatedly done this to no avail. please help :) many thanks xxxxxxxxx ps: whilst the childlock is in place i cannot use the microwave at all.
