How easy it to change fan belt /alternator for ford Galaxy 2003 2.3 petrol?

Can the alternator/ fan belt be changed by a diy job or is it a garage job, im fairly confident as ive changed the alternator on my wifes Beetle but have never worked on the Ford Galaxy as ive only had it for 2 weeks. Have noticed when turning on the car it squelches for about a second and then normal?
