There is a red button on an older Indesit Super Deluxe Fridge on the climate control dial. Should this be in or out. Our fridge suddenly stopped working and we are trying to get it up and going again. This fridge is quite old (approx 35 years).
I had this issue but the button wasn't working even when i pulled it out. After taking off the plastic cover and then detaching the electronics I was able to get the back end of the red button unstuck from its contact. Or more precisely I stuck a knife into it and it happened to free itself! (Obviously you want the fridge unplugged if you are going to attempt this) Everything is fine with it now except for the puddle of water into the bottom of it.

We have the same fridge, and yes it is still running bought it 1973/4.
As I can remember that red button is used for defrosting the fridge. Push it in defrost button out normal runnig.
