how can i fix dvd player?

dvd starts out playing ok & then starts stopping & skipping And braeking up on screen. Is there a lens that I should clean regularly or wheels to check or???

sounds like the lazer that reads the disk is gone cheapest opt buy a new one you can pick one up for as little as £20
