Mend Valiant Heating Ignition Pilot Light

How do I ignite the pilot light on my valiant boiler?

We have a valiant boiler which won't heat the water. There were no insructions left by the previous owners. How do we get the boiler working again? We have pressed the little red button with a flame and cross on it but it isn't working. There is a light on nest to the picture of a flame with a diagonal line through it.

dont push the red button, push in and hold the white one and under the bottom right hand side of the boiler you will see the ignition piezo. push this a few times and the pilot should light. then hold for 20 seconds and let go. if it stays lit you are laughin, if not the thermocouple is up the spout
