It's a while since you asked the question regarding your lovely old boiler. I remember these boilers from the 60s; they were fitted with a blue flame high CO2 (i.e. low excess air) Dynaflame vaporising burner (the burner was made by a Scottish company) which made a superb noise on start up. Sorry I haven't a source for a new control box but an electrical / instrument engineer should be able to fix it for you since they are quite simple electromechanical units. I was curious whether you had managed to get it fixed or decided to buy a new boiler. I would love to see the boiler especially if it runs. The only criticism I have of them is that I don't believe that they were fitted with an integral flue draught controller like for example the Wilson / BSA Hotspur Wallfame boilers (although these do make the flue run colder).
