what cuases losse of power on 1999 ford transit?

It can also be the EGR Valve (sensor) which controls the diesel flow. I have a 1999 turbo diesel & that was the problem. You suddenly have a loss in power. If I stopped, switched off, when restarted problem would go away. Red engine management light also came on. Hope this helps
