whats wrong with my van?

ford trani v reg 2.5 loss of power up hills put in new fuel and air filter still the same also black soot out of exhaust, any ideas only 70k on clock

not too sure, only a suggestion, but maybe have your timing or your compression looked at? The obvoius answer would be that your engine has nearly had it but if only 70k on it then would try this if not already.
