We called samsung and they were no help. they said to turn it in and get it serviced. After trying a bunch of stuff, ours was frozen for about 2 months and we were ready to trash it. I even took it apart and unplugged the battery with the hope it would reset it somehow, but that didn't work.
If you can link to your computer and still get into the folders, here is how i fixed it.
1. go to the samsung website (www.samsung.com) and download the firmware file for your player. you can get there by selecting "Products" at the top left of the page, then "MP3 Player", then select "YP-T7Z" (about 10th from the bottom of the drop down list" for the model, Then click "firmware" on right side of the screen in the download center and download the zip with the 3 files in it (YP_T7.ROM, ORIONFNT.FNT, ICON.IMG)
know where these files are on your computer. you will need to drag and drop them in a few minutes.
2. Connect your MP3 player to your computer. Go to "My Computer".
***WARNING, THE NEXT STEP WILL ERASE ALL DATA ON YOUR MP3 PLAYER. WE DIDN'T CARE WHEN WE DID THIS BECAUSE WE HAD A COPY OF EVERYTHING ON OUR COMPUTER. IF YOU DO NOT HAVE A COPY OF EVERYTHING, BE WARNED!!! YOU WILL LOSE ALL YOUR SONGS AND PICTURES ON THE PLAYER.**
3. If you're ready to proceed and you have the "My Computer" window open, right click on the SAMSUNG player that is showing as a drive and select "Format". BE SURE YOU'VE SELECTED THE CORRECT ICON AND THAT YOU DO NOT ACCIDENTALLY REFORMAT YOUR HARD DRIVE!!!
4. Now that your player is cleaned, drag the files that you downloaded from the samsung website into players empty folder.
5. Disconnect the player and turn it on. Hopefully you see a screen that says something along the lines of "Downloading Software" or "Upgrading Software" or something like that. After it's done, you should have your player back to like when you first bought it.
Hope this answers you question and works out for you. if you need any additional info or screen shots, send me an email and i will try to get back to you asap.
