How can i fix my GBC 4250 Laminator?

The green ready light goes on as soon as the power is turned on, but there is no heat. Is this likely to be a heat sensor that needs replacing? If that is replaced what kind of life expectancy will the machine have?

We need to replace the Bezel Board (1154091)
for our 4250 laminator. We got in touch with GBC
but its way too expensive ($ 577.18)
Can you help us? Thank you.

OUR GBC4250 just stopped working midway through a project. We shut it off and let it sit for a day, turned it back on- no green light. Any suggestions?

My 4250 laminator had been in storage and has been recently brought out for use. It turns on, runs great but will not heat. How do you access and replace fuse in back of machine?

some films are smellier than others. the pricey temp sensor board can easily be fixed for under 15 bucks. the sensor is a transistor availble from digi key for about 12 bucks plus shipping. if the machine gets too hot the thermal fuse next to it will open protecting the unit. This is a common failure and 4250s are historically good machines:)

The problem you described is probably a bad thermal sensor and yes it can be fixed.
Also as far as how long do these machines live.
It depends on how they are used and maintained.
With care they can last for many many years.
1.) Do not turn on and leave running unnecessarly.
2.) Allow enough cool down time after finishing with the machine.
3.) Clean the rollers !!!
4.) Oil the rollers ocassionally.
5.) Cover the machine when not in use.

Well GBC service says they arent repairable. Thats mostly because they charge 250 to 300 bucks for the first hours labor. If the rollers are in decent shape the machine will run forever. But the overheating odor means you likely need that temp sensor board replaced. Once the machine get overheated, the thermal fuse next to the temp sensor board will open and the machine wouldnt power on. GBC makes god machines. But service and parts cost a fortune, and new machines have only a 90 day warranty

I fix these for a living. Its the temp sensor board in the center of the lower red heat roller..

The problem with GBC machines is parts and service cost a fortune. Theres a single transistor on that board that can be replaced for about 10 bucks, GBC charges over a 150 bucks for that board. 4250s are good machines. If your around pittsburgh contact me I offer free on site estimates

What is the life expectancy of this machine? We've had it since 1997 and it gives us a stronger odor which may be due to it heating at a higher temp or a difference in laminate film. Wondering what options we have. It's running fine otherwise. Just giving headaches to those exposed to the odor.
