Is it done for good?

Protron LT37C1P1 Television

This lcd tv goes on for 3 seconds, I can push menu buttons and see the menu change then goes off. If I turn it off and on again I can can do the same thing. I hear a descending whine from the time I turn it on till it goes off. The sound is still there. Is it trash, can I take it apart for the fun of it?
I may or may not be able to get the manual and remote. It is 5 years old.
