Whirlpool washing machine AWM 1000?

When moving machine the door seal became loose. There is a thin metal ring (became loose) and I can't see how this fixes around door seal. The ring fits perfectly around door opening (on machine, not door). Does ring go round the rubber door seal and if so, how?
