Thats the problem with the net some smart arse always think they are a jack of all trades. Regassing a fridge is not an easy operation and you will need the right equipment and most importantly you will have to be qualified and certified unless you want to blow yourselve up. We had a similar problem with our american fridge freezer and numerous companies and engineers who couldnt solve problem until we got hold of an approved engineer from agsrefrigeration who is certified and does work for some of the major manufacturers in the london and surrey area they attended within 24 hours and rectified the problem its been a couple of years now and we have had no further problems. www.agsrefrigeration.co.uk.

first of all.you have to need to the equipments for repairinhg the refrigerator.i mention the equipments as below
1=refrigerant like number R12,R134
2=Gas welding silendor bursion and oxegen
3-copper road or patal road for repairing tne leakage
4=vaccume pump
5=electric point for starting
6=punch plier
7=scrap paper
8=a piece of mirror for seeing opposide of the welded eara
9=leakage checking meterial like soap.or others
10=Amper meter
11=low pressor and high pressor gauges
12=nitrogen gas for pressorizing
you shoul have these equipment then you will be able to regass to your fridge or freezer
Now i try to detail of working or sequance of work
1=pressorize the fridge or freezer 100 to 150 psi,after the install the charging line to the compressor
2=check the leakage by using the soap for bubbling and bubbling mean leakage places and mark them for remembering
3=reweld or brazing them andrepressorizing and recheck with soap and get the satisfaction about removing the leakage
4= do the vaccume for 5 to 8 hour by voccumepump
5=start to refill the gas by running the fridge or freezer and put the thermostate on 1 and see the ampers,during the regassing the fridge should be attomatic on and off on selected 1 and then you increase the number and refill the gas even it turn to off and refill the whole the freezer or fridge by getting the attomatic through thermostate using every number
6=After the refill the gas and at the end you pucch the charging line and weld it

No not really. Not unless you have all the gauges and a bottle of the correct gas etc etc.

Does the compressor run all the time? If so this is a good sign that the gas pressure is low or there is no gas.
If that isn't happening, check the theromstat.

The only way a fridge can be short of gas is if there is a leak. The gas cannot 'wear out'. So if your fridge is 'out of gas' after the first time it was filled, it means that the repair person cocked up and didn't fix the leak (or fixed it and made another)in the first place so therefore should be fixing his mistake, not charging you more.
