why does my golf sound like a hoover?

my 02 plate 1.4 golf has passed its mot. there are no lights on on the dash board but all of a sudden when you accelerate it high pitcthed and sounds like a hoover

it is very difficult to determine what your fault is without hearing it, but you could have a bearing or idler at fault,you could try and remove the fan belt and start the motor and this rules out a few things if the noise is still there
