You can download the images just fine, so it's not a MSN problem.
Check that you actualy save them with the correct extention. Maybe you save them as .dat, .bin or with some other non-image extention.
I recommend that you set windows explorer to always display the extention of ALL files. The very idea of hiding the extentions was a very bad idea from the beggining.
Then, it's only a mather of chosing the right media viewer.
I normaly use IrfanView. A great and free media viewer. It launch faster and is more polyvalent that the windows offerings: fax viewer used to display images.
When it opens a file, it checks it's header instead of relying only on the extention to know how to display it.
One of it's feature is to correct the extention of files saved with the incorrect extention, like a JPG image saved as a .DAT file. Whenever it loads a file with the wrong extention, it asks you if you want it to correct the extention.
