Mend Peugeot 206cc Fault Car

Oil gauge fault on Peugeot 206cc?

My Peugeot 206cc has an oil gauge problem. On starting the car the needle goes into the red and the STOP indicator also comes on. This lasts for a few seconds and then the needle drops back down. I have checked the oil level and that is fine. Any ideas?

depending on when last sevice was done, could be oil filter has collasped, try changing it.
