Mend Hitachi DRT-2330 Dvd Recorder Freezing

DVD Recorder freezing?

Does anyone know how I can either clean or make good my DVD hard drive. Hitachi. When I try to delete from recordings library it freezes on 'please wait' and stays there, completely freezing. I have to keep switching the power off then on, when I repeat process same thing happens.
