Mend Volkswagen Passat Vw Lights Switch

how do I fix my 1996 VW Passat reversing lights?

Reversing lights do not work - bulbs okay, fuse okay therefore I am assuming that it is the switch on the gearbox. How do I access it? If it is not a loose connection is the switch easy to replace?
