only getting hot water at taps when heating is on. using a hamstead combi boiler. any help please

As Mr May stated, it's probably the water-flow switch or the diaphragm in the water flow switch that's holed and not turning the boiler on when you open the tap...

But you might want to look up the part for a Halstead, not Hamstead heating appliance. ;)
