Mend Delonghi KBX2001 Years Red Light Water

Can I repair my Delonghi kettle?

I have a Delonghi kettle about 2 years old. The red light on the appliance comes on but it won't boil the water. A local repair man said over the phone that the kettle is a sealed unit and cannot be repaired - is this right?
