ideal classic f350 pilot wont light boiler wont fire up?

this is a combi boiler, i have no hot water or heating, have followed all relighting instructions including the overheat reset button.

all electrics are working and when power is switched on to the boiler there is a red glow coming from inside the boiler (a light of some sort) but no pilot light

the boiler was working normally and just went off for no apprent reason,its about 9 years old and was last serviced about 2 years ago

any ideas to what the fault is? , i dont mind calling out an engineer but dont want ripped off by them saying its this that and the next thing, if its something simple that am overlooking
