How do I know if my alternator is bad?

My engine is running louder, the stereo flickered from on to off a few times and then turned completely off, Blinkers quit working, Battery light turned on when I gave the engine gas and turned off when I released the accelerator with the battery light sometimes just dimming instead of turning all the way off
