How to install replacement motor shaft cover on a Cuisinart DLC-8?

I bought a replacement motor shaft cover (part no. RPW10F95024TX) for my old Cuisinart DLC-8 food processor, but I can't manage to install it. It should slip over the spindle, but it is a tight fit, and I have tried and tried, but cannot get it to go on. I'm afraid that if I try to hammer it on I will just wind up cracking and breaking it. Does anyone have any advice/ideas as to how to do this?

If you bought a motor shaft cover for cusisnart dlc-8s and trying to put it on a dlc-8f, it won’t fit. Don’t even try. They look the same but they are not.
