How do I install a replacement belt on my vacuum cleaner?

I have a Kenmore Whispertone model 116 - 52500200c Power-Mate System 12 Amps vacuuum cleaner Kenmore whispertone. I have lost my owners manual and need to install a belt and am not sure where the belt attaches other than the roller. I have the replacement belt #20-40110. I am having problems opening

1. Unplug.
2. Push the tabs on the sides of the cover beside the light to pop off the light cover.
3. Remove the two screws underneath the cover.
4. Turn the beater brush over and you should see an "Insert screwdriver here" marking on each side where you can gently pry the rest of the cover off.
5. Once opened, the roller easily comes out, and a new belt can be slipped on.
