Can I fix a new programme selector switch myself - I am a trained engineer?

I have a Candy C514 washing machine - the programme selector switch is faulty - could I replace it myself if I bought a new part?

It is a 5Kg 1400 spin speed machine we bought in 2006

make sure its the programe selector as iv just had a new one put in my washer and it has not rectified the prob i have read it is a common fault with candy washers
