ariston combi keeps firing up?

Hi, my ariston microgenus 23mffi keeps firing up & shutting down repeatedly even though the room thermostat isn't calling for the heating to come on. the only way to stop it is to turn the cental heating side off. hot water works fine. anyone any ideas what it could be. thanks
