Mend Dishwasher Flashing Water

How can I fix the problem of the Inlet/Drain red light flashing?

We inherited our dishwasher with the house which we bought 5 years ago, hence we don't have a manual. We habe not experienced any problems and then suddenly the red light on Inlet/Drain flashed on and it won't work. Not sure if this is relevant but at the same time our cold water was turned off at the mains due to an external p[roblem in the street. Is this just a coincidence? Can anyone help please?
