Mend Uniden VS1502 Working Again Dial

how can i get my vs1502 working again. No dial tone?

WHEN WE PRESS THE GREEN PHONE BUTTON TO SWITCH THE PHONE ON TO MAKE A CLL WE DO NOT GET DIAL TONE. THERE IS A 'Y' TYPE OF SYMBOL THAT IS USUALLY ON, BUT HAS DISAPPEARED.

The easiest way to get the phone working again is to take the batteries out from the back and put them back in, or replace them and that seems to work.
