reinstall rotor pulley, craftsman chainsaw, mod 358.356090, ser B2933317?

my last new rotor pulley was installed, and chainsaw used once. It started and ran. The new rotor pulley gear was all chewed up. I observed that one of the small tension clips on the flywheel was broken. I ordered a new clip from sears but am at a loss on how to install clip. Can i do this myself or let a professional small engine repairman do this?
