Mend MTD 1332 Mower Belts Brake

MTD pro 1332 Bandit Belts slip in reverse?

My MTD Pro 1332 Bandit runs forward just fine, but when I put it into reverse the belts slip and it wont go backwards very fast. The only way I get it to move is to push down on the steering brake handles. Any help would be great.
