canon ixus 2s screen problem?

I have a canon ixus 2 which is a few years old. When viewing existing images on a sd card it works fine but when i try to take pictures the lcd screen flashes pink, and a bright pink image is taken.. i dont think the lcd screen is faulty as it shows existing images clear as a bell.
