I had the same problem on my two-year old Amana side-by-side. The ice crusher sounded like it was trying to work but no ice came out - like it was jammed. I imagine my solution is not recommended by Amana, but it worked well. I had a wooden stick (0.5" square and 3' long; a similar size wooden rod would also work). I carefully opened the flap that the ice drops through and inserted the stick up as far as it would go into the opening. I then pushed the "button" to dispense crushed ice. As the ice crusher tried to work, I moved the stick up and down. Eventually crushed ice started dispensing. Since there wasn't room for a glass to catch the ice when the stick was inplace, it made quite a mess on the floor. You may want to put some towels on the floor before you start. A week later, the ice crusher is still working as it should. I don't know whether it was just jammed or whether it was frozen. I hope this helps.
