Mend Electrolux TR1171 Refrigerator Freezer Repair

Electrolux fridge/freezer TR1171 thermostat problem?

The freezer is working OK but fridge is too cold and food is icing over with thermostat set at lowest setting.
Is it easy to replace presumed defective thermostat?

the thermostat attaches to the evapourator plate (metal plate at the back).you should see the mounting screws towards the bottom right.is there cooling happening at the thermostat mounting point?.is it iced up the same as the above surface?.if not it could be a gas issue which is obsolete.failing this a new stat but not common for failing where they work to well normally fail open circuit and stop working!
