Mend Hotpoint First Edition 1100 Starting Cycle

Hotpoint First Edition 1100 - Water leaking from soap dispenser?

When starting the cycle whe it starts to fill up , water starts flooding from the soap/fabric dispenser box. Only way to lessen it is to stuff some socks into the drawer and hold a towel against it until it stops.

any idea on how to stop the leaking ?
