Mend Peugeot 307 Minutes

Cooling fan?

I have an 05 peugeot 307 when on short journeys particulary the cooling fan comes on and stays on for a few minutes. Unless I disconnect the battery the battery drains flat in minutes. Am I better replacing the battery? How can I sort this problem cos the dealer couldn't sort it out.
