Fridge making a loud noise?

We had exactly the same problem with our Samsung american style side by side fridge freezer. The noise became unbearable and only stopped when you opened the door! We couldn't get any water from the drinks dispenser either, and the top part of the fridge was warm. After a while the noise stopped, but the fridge was still warm. We called out an engineer who managed to fix it even though he didn't really seem to know what he was doing and it cost a small fortune. 2 weeks later, we had the problem again. This time, I looked on the internet and read on several forums about a company called Appliance DIY Repairs who supply a kit for you to repair it yourself. People were saying that it was far cheaper and it worked! When we put the name in the search engine, it did take a minute or two to locate them, and once we did, we bought the kit, which was just before Christmas and managed to get it fitted on Christmas Eve. 5 months later, its still going strong. My husband was also quite impressed that I'd fixed the fridge, so that he could have his cold beers over Christmas! Hope this helps.
