climate control wont change temperature ?

i have a 1998 ford cougar,matrix,coolant level are ok,the temp of air does not change when you put it on hot it just blows cold air all the time,it has a digital display and 2 buttons one to increase temp and one to cool the temp im stuck,not sure if it is controlled by a motor linked to a cable or what???
