I realy don't want to answer this but it is BUGGING ME,I reckon it is full already and your gauge is faulty(or float)or someone has shoved a tennis ball down your filler pipe.Fill a petrol (not GAS can)with petrol and go for a drive until you run out of FUEL then poor in the petrol to get to a garage.$1.10 is about a coffee cup here in UK.
