307SW Intermittent faults?

Hi,

Currently got ABS/ESP fault light come on after 5 mins of driving. Garage have checked codes and they list as both rear speed sensor and ABS fault (permanent errors) but he said it was very strange as he could clear them. After another 5 min run in the car, it then gave a steer sensor error instead......being quoted hundreds for new ECU/harnesses/sensors as they're not really sure what to look at next! Any ideas?

if you have had a com 2000 fitted the steering angle sensor needs to be calibrated. if not com 2000 may be going faulty giving false readings. if not then the rear sensors give false readings as rust builds up behind them giving incorrect gap between abs ring and sensors. remove and clean off rust and replace. if not has it had an abs recall? water gets into abs ecu and causes all sorts of problems. recall was to test/replace ecu fit new loom and relay and waterproof cover. might not need recall but water still gets in ecu.

Thanks for the reply, he did test it whilst driving with a scanner connected, and also said he had overiden the settings as well such that he could test above 40mph. Speed sensors were fine below 40kph but sporadic above The results were very sporadic which he thought may be ECU or wiring issue.

Basically ESP sensor also reading 0 or 340° (nothing in between) and steer sensor reading something like 13000°. Think were going to try and get it through an MOT (fingers crossed) then sell it, but explain that theres a fault. We've spent nearly £2000 int eh last 2 years excluding this issue!! Its getting crazy

Your garage needs to run you vehicle connected to a scanner showing live data. This will show what all the abs sensors are doing and will show if you have got a sporadic fault. all the wheel sensors should show the same speed and at what speed the fault occurs.fault codes generated are only what the ecu thinks is wrong and can be very misleading always test the component before you replace it.If you had a wiring fault i doubt you would be able to clear the codes. If you can start your car and the abs light goes out it has gone through the self test and only comes on when you drive you may have a sensor ring problem. Hope this helps you a little bit.
