stannah stair lift?

we purchased a second hand stair lift to improve the quality of life for an aging parent. the lift was working prior to removal, but after re-instalation the lift no longer operates.
there is power to the the area of the motor as there is an illuminated diode visable.
is there a reset ?
could we have blown a fuse?
can any one offer a fault finding sequence.
does any one know of an engineer in the essex area who can be employed.
