Baxi Platinum 33HE error code E168?

I have been told that it could be caused by an electrical surge,so fitting a surge protector to power supply may fix problem.They only cost about £10 squidles.Carefull with live wires!240 v al wake you up.

Error code E160 now! i had E168 last xmas I hate this baxi rubbish.
Im sick to death every winter it breaks down. why cant they just make good quality equiptment. If i manufactured as much bad quality products at work id be sacked.
Baxi Pfff never buying 1 of these again. Im looking to move house if i ever see a baxi in a viewing i'll run a mile!

Just had a problem with my Baxi 28 due tec and its just over 2 years old. The boiler just cut out and my wife asked me to look at it, found no life in the PCB board never mind a fault code. Then noticed when removing our cookery books from underneath the boiler that there was mould on the top from a leak which was internal. Took the cover off the boiler as its only 2 screws to find that the diverter valve had been leaking and there was residue sitting in the boiler housing near the PCB board. Not sure if it has cooked the board as it was very close and there is faint black scorch marks on the casing. Is this thing a ticking time bomb waiting to happen ? not impressed especially considering it won a Which award in 2007 and various other praises. Think I will go for Vailent or Worcester next time

We had the boiler serviced and since then the error E168 keeps occuring. We re-set it everytime and it is ok for 1 or 2 days. Anyone know whats wrong with it.

The fantasic E168 , well I have spent nothing yet to fix it. My fiancee is a heathing and Plumbing Engineer and he never heard of this code other than it is a fault of Baxi boilers. You are not going to fix your boiler by replacing PCB Boards, Gas Valves or anything else. It is a fault and baxi should do something about this. From all the comments I have read this could be down to a Power cut, electrical fault, and to do with earthing fault and replacing the PCB wont fix it so done waste your money. Can some one who knows what they are doing get this on Watch Dog and tell the world not to buy baxi combi duo tech HE 28 Boilers. Only 3-4 years old and stuck with this problem. People out there have this problem after only a year, when firing up after the end of summer and after a power cut. Thanks Baxi for rubbish boiler.

My old boiler may not have been as efficient but it worked.

Had a new PCB fitted 3 months ago and all was fine until we had a power cut the other day, then E168 popped up again. I managed to get rid but I am now going out to buy a UPS for the boiler because I don't want to be worring that I may have to buy a new PCB every time we have a power cut.

I also have this errror E168 on my MAIN boiler ECO 30 its about 18 months old, iv tried everything, water pressure , boiler on and off for 2 day now. Phones MAIN Boilers they where really nice and said they would send an engineer free of charge.. Why does this fault happen?? it happened after i had a power cut

MJB, how did you get a 5 year warranty? i think the standard is 1year + 3 months?

anyway, i have this error. and i was quoted £350 to fix it. definitely recession prices. boiler has literally been in use for just over 15months and i cannot for the life of me understand (considering how little we use it) why this would happen.

so i have 2 questions:

1) how do i increase the pressure on the boiler? mine is languishing at around 1.

2) are there any instructions on how to replace the PCB?

Had this problem on my Baxi duo tek last week checked out all components for voltages etc turned out to be PCB failure boiler just 2 years old
engineer said 99% PCB for this error

Baxi also say to check gas valve/igniter & pump before replacing P.C.B E168 is not in installation manuel but an extra list is given out at baxi training courses.

Wifes shouts out "there's no hot water" On inspection E 168. Get out "user guide" E 168 not listed. Onto internet (this site) Ha Ha check water pressure. Repressurise and voila. Check both hot water and central heating - all A OK. Start to Finsh 10 minutes. More Brownie points in the bag and wallet still intact. Phew

Do not replace pcb!!! You are within your warranty use it. It costs you nothing. the
moment you or anybody other than the warranty engineer touches your boiler you will loose the warranty. E168 can refer to a number of things none of which are pcb!!! Anyway bottom line is warranty engineer and as a final though never buy pcbs via the internet. get well soon!!!

E168 Fault on the promax ,gold ,platinum , duo tec boiler is a fault with the pcb E160 is the fan fault Replace the pcb this will rectify your E168 problem 100000% guaranteed I have these for sale on my ebay website universalheatingsparesuk thanks

I have this error code too - on both hot water and central heating. If getting the error on HW - then 1.5 bar pressure is irrelevant? According to the manual E168 error codes relate to the fan - that's as far as I've got!
As I'm within the 5yr warranty and have had yearly servicing - time to ask Baxi to honour it?

check the water pressure boiler is evry sensitive should be 1.5 bar
