How can I fix my Craftsman,model no. 917.377291, 6.5 HP. Briggs, 21 inch?
The engine is leaking fuel into the crankcase. I think it is the carburetor and I was going to start with a needle and seat and take a look at the float. Any other ideas?
You have the right idea.
Rebuild the carb and make sure the float is boyant.
Also, don't start that engine with fuel in the crankcase.
That could get real exciting real fast!!!
