Hello Lillian,
I take it that the winder won't turn which makes me think it has seized, there is only one way to fix it, put fine oil on the spindle I can't remember if there is an oil hole or not, take an electric drill, put the drill over the spindle and tighten, turn the drill on very slowly and you will be able to free it off but make sure you put some oil on it but watch out for getting oil on you when you turn the drill on.
