My dell wont start up?

My girlfriends dell will not start all the way up. The page that asks what mode you'd like to start up with, (safe mode, normally, etc.) shows up, but all mode options we choose end up on a blank screen showing only the cursor arrow. She disregarded many warnings that trojan horses and worm viruses were found on her computer. Is there any way to get it to turn on?

well now she gets her result,she should have listend to the warnings,the hard drive will need to be scrubbed and new operating system installed,you may even need a new hard drive,good luck
