how can i fix my Alessi toaster?

We have an Alessi electric toaster. It will toast two slices of bread just fine, but when I try to toast some more, the lever won't catch. The toaster has to sit for an hour or more before the lever will catch again. Is there an easy fix?

If it were mine I would consign it to the rubbish bin. Your toaster has a serious electrical fault - a shorted and broken heating element most probably - spares may well be difficult or impossible to obtain and repair costs - if you can actually find someone prepared to do it - be more or close to the cost of a new machine.
