why cant i record sky plus chanels ?

hi i have a sky plus box put in my bedroom witch i had off my dad from downstairs i can record bcc 1 2 and itv but for some resion i can play them and watch hem at a later date but when i record any sky chanels cant play them back and it comes up recording interruppted does any one know why please help me if you can thanks mark
